Hyde Park boite seeks beer and wine license

Zaz, 1238 River St., goes before the Boston Licensing Board next week to seek a license to serve beer and wine with meals.

The small restaurant tried for a similar license last February but was turned down because the board had no licenses to dole out.

That, however, was before the legislature passed a law granting Boston 25 new liquor licenses this year aimed at areas such as River Street; the owners of a planned Italian restaurant where the Hyde used to be got one of these new licenses in November. If Zaz gets one of the new licenses, it would not be able to sell it outside the Hyde Park Main Streets district, which runs along River Street and Fairmount Avenue.

The board's hearings begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in its eighth-floor hearing room in City Hall.

I hope that they get it, they recently changed their menu and adding beer and wine would really kick things up a notch there.

Delicious food, I really should go here more and support this little gem. Hope the liquor license works out for them.
