Judah Maccabbee hands out dreidels in Brookline

After sunset, Jewish families gathered in front of the Devotion School on Harvard Street, where Judah Maccabee himself handed out dreidels tonight before the prayers were song and the menorah was lit for Chanukah's first night, in a celebration sponsored by the local Chabad Chai center:

Then Judah ascended skyward in a bucket truck to toss Chanukah gelt to the kids and adults below (don't worry, they did not hit the ground like sacks of wet cement):

And after that, everybody went into the Devotion School for some sufganyot (small donuts) and latkes and apple sauce.

What's the dif between Chanukkah and Hanahkkah?

They're just different ways of spelling a Hebrew word with English letters.

My husband says always go with "Chanukah"- if you spell it the CH way, then you never have to worry which letter is double (HanuKKah) when spelling it!
