Life without parole for murdering man he didn't know

Keith Hobbs was sentenced to life without parole today for fatally shooting Demetrius Blocker in 2010, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury last week convicted Hobbs of first-degree murder for shooting Blocker on Horadan Way in what prosecutors said was likely a case of mistaken identity, since Blocker had no connection with guns, gangs or violence.

It took detectives a couple of years to link the murder to Hobbs - thanks to tips from the community. By then, Hobbs was already in prison - serving a three-year sentence on gun and drug charges.
