I did not find this reassuring at Braintree station.

You know, the stuff they plan to use to attach these to the front of the lead car?

...crappy shovels. Seriously, those are the kind of shovels that make you burst into tears if you have to use them.

"... that make you burst into tears if you have to use them."

So they fit perfectly with the rest of the T experience.

... they're expecting about twice as many girls as boys.

They look like leftovers from Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Are those plastic? I hope so, because using a steel shovel near third rail is not a good idea.

Hopefully they shouldn't be shoveling when the third rail is live anyway.

The movement of passing trains can throw snow back into switches that have already been dug out and cleared. It could become necessary to clear out switches again with power on.

Seems like a huge liability to let the public do something that they could get hurt doing.....can't be real!

I have no idea why all those shovels were on display at Braintree, but, no, I don't think the T is going to ask passengers to shovel out a train.

Love the colors!

All I can think is...

New from Mattel - it's the Wollaston Beach Barbie Playset!

Barbie is in full uniform as the MP Lieutenant with a National Guard unit assigned to snow recovery along the Red Line. Accessories include a scale-replica service sidearm and the Barbie HumVee (tm).

Ken is part of the snow recovery effort, too, and is wearing his uniform - a fluorescent MCI jumpsuit!

They're pink and purple...

Each one cost the taxpayers 1,000 dollars and they are guaranteed to break after one use.
