New trees in Brighton Center come with a plea for help

New trees on Winship Street in Brighton Center

BirdMachine reports new trees have been planted along Winship Street in Brighton Center, for the first time in a long time, because that's one of the streets the Brighton tree ninja has targeted for more than a decade with a blade with which to cut up trees so that they would die.

Joseph Rizza was arrested in April in connection with tree attacks, a month after he was charged with other tree attacks. Trees died so frequently in Brighton Center due to the attacks that the city parks department stopped planting new trees along the streets Rizza was alleged to have prowled, usually at night, dressed in black.

Seems to me a mild electrical current run through the ground around and on one of the trees could resolve the issue. Say 90,000 volts. This would also keep it safe from dogs and beavers.

Wildlife/game cameras (motion-sensitive cameras typically used by hunters) are small and cheap nowadays; they should hang some of these in the trees to catch the guy.

Shit's getting old.
He's just an asshole vandal that gets off on girdling the trees with a hammer.

The saddest part is that they have caught him, several times. He's got a couple of screws loose, unfortunately.
