Ominous clouds appear to have business elsewhere this evening

Ryan Meador watched the clouds moving over the Charles without doing much more than looking menacing, around 6:20 p.m.

Not ominous at all.
They're just fronting.
And then a minute later
It rained for a few minutes at about 7:02.... a minute or two after this was posted. Big raindrops.... but not for long.
It was uncanny
The period of rain and the period of me bringing the trash down to the curb overlapped about 97%. Actually felt pretty nice.
Their business was on North Shore minutes later
Torrential rains in Salem and Lynn for 10 minutes. Then calm and clear enough to take a (quite chilly) at Nahant beach.
That's how the squall line looked on radar.
I see that pattern a lot. It's as if the thermal effect from all the pavement along with crap air result in a strange shield effect that deflects storms to the north or south
You want bizarre
I left the Wegmans parking lot in Newton and it started to POUR. Large rain drops, lots of little rain drops, back to large rain drops...the road was *frothing* under people's tires because there was so much unwashed muck from days without rain combined with the intensity of the water and the tires mashing it all together.
I head up the Hammond Pond Parkway onto Beacon and past BC and suddenly...nothing. The roads were bone dry. Call a friend in Oak Square and nothing. Start to notice the roads are wet again around Chestnut Hill Ave near the reservoir. Then, get home near Brighton Center and nothing, dry driveway.
The hit/miss pattern in Newton/Brighton as to where it rained and didn't was really bizarre.
