One of the advantages of living in a world-class city: If you break something, chances are somebody can fix it

Like, say, your penis. Dr. Robert J. Hartman, Jr., of Brigham and Women's, discusses the case of a man who presented in the hospital ER with a broken penis.

On the basis of the clinical presentation, the patient was taken to the operating room for emergency repair.

His article is, of course, accompanied by a photo of the damaged appendage, so don't click unless you want that right in your face.

Even though sometimes it's a pain in the ass I like having a detachable penis.

That warning just wasn't stiff enough. Now I can't unsee that picture and lurid description...
Oh well at least it doesn't happen every day, I hope!

Never mind, I don't want to know.

Can someone at least say what the cause was so I don;t have to click and see someone's defective chap?

The erect penis had inadvertently collided with his partner's perineum. He heard a snap, noticed a rush of blood from the meatus, had immediate detumescence, and had severe pain.

I took your advice and avoided the article but now I wish I hadn't read the quote either. I can't even imagine a guy's reaction to this story.

Best clinical stories and language ("collided with partner's perineum") and photos!
