Brookline Police posted a couple of photos of a car whose driver somehow managed to back it up onto the railings outside the Public Library of Brookline this afternoon. Police report no injuries.

Of course, I have no idea what happened here, but I've been watching drivers rock cars out of icy parking spaces and it's a wonder that those spinning tires don't suddenly catch and send the car flying forwards or backwards.

Likely what happened here. He was probably revving it on that ice patch on the pavement to the left of the curb, the car was inching back with the wheels spinning at something like 30-40mph, and then the tires finally made contact with the ice-free curb/sidewalk...
