Piracy on the low seas: Police arrest three in Boston Harbor boat break-in

Boston Police report arresting three men they say used a stolen boat to find other boats to pillage in Boston Harbor on Monday.

Police say their Harbor Unit responded to calls about some strange men in a strange boat lurking near the the Boston Harbor Sailing Center - and about them boarding one of them and tossing cushions fromthe 45-foot sport fishing boat on Monday afternoon:

While approaching the vessel, officers observed two males standing on the fly bridge of the vessel and a third individual floating away from the scene in a smaller boat. Officers promptly boarded the vessel and asked the men if they owned the boat. In response to that question, both men stated they didn’t know. While searching the boat, officers noted that vessel appeared to be in utter disarray. Specifically, officers observed the salon door to be open and personal items thrown and strewn about the cabin. In light of the suspect’s inability to show any proof of ownership relative to the vessel, officers placed both suspects under arrest.

Police say the Coast Guard later found the third guy in what turned out to be a stolen boat - along with booty consisting of "several stolen items including: fishing rods, a tackle box, a fish finder, a chart plotter GPS, a marine radio, a solar cell phone charger and binoculars."

Dwayne Hill, 52, Tony Villegas, 60, and Robert Allen, 25, all Boston residents, were charged with breaking and entering (ship), trespassing, receiving stolen property (boat), using a boat without authority and malicious destruction of property.

Not scurvy dogs until proven guilty.

When the police board the boat you're burgling and ask you if you own the boat, how is "I don't know" ever going to fly?
