Police: Man arrested last year for breaking into Cambridge apartments arrested this week for breaking into a Back Bay apartment

Boston Police report arresting a man they say broke into an apartment on Beacon Street in the Back Bay, about 18 months after he was arrested for breaking into apartments in Cambridge.

Police say a witness spotted Danavian Daniel, 23, trying doors of apartments at 505 Beacon St. shortly before 11 a.m. on Monday - and that officers spotted him on the Mass. Ave. bridge as they were arriving to investigate.

While inspecting the apartment building at 505 Beacon Street, officers observed damage to the front door of the location consistent with damage caused by a prying tool or crow bar. Specifically, officers observed splintered wood around the door's locking/latching mechanism along with white paint chips and flakes on the floor in and around the door. A search of the suspect and his backpack enabled officers to see and seize a 15 inch pry bar, assorted jewelry, a woman’s watch and several jewelry boxes.

Police say they are now looking at his possible connection to other recent break-ins in the area.

In the Cambridge case, Daniel and an accomplice were charged with using a flathead screwdriver to pry open doors.

Innocent, etc.

Thought it was a felony and that it was 2 or 3 years minimum? Do you know Adam?

Currently out on probation and diligently back to work. It occurred to me that for every time he's been caught there's probably up to a dozen break-ins he hasn't gotten caught for.

When a-holes like this guy are convicted, do they ever pay restitution? Anyone know?

Yes, I realize they probably don't have much money, but if I have to pay $500 for my new door, I want his cigarette and/or beer money for the next 6 months.

Since when does the American justice system do much more than throw people in cages at taxpayer expense? Which as we can once again see works so well. The only time the system cares about victims is when it can trot them out in front of the judge or the media to make a case for longer prison sentences.

Many of these Burglaries happen to us regular folks while at work paying the salaries of DA Conley's folks. They FAIL us miserably in not bringing the proper charge of being 3rd Offense Habitual Career Criminal requiring the 20 years to Life sentence more appropriate for these types of criminals, who usually commit 100's, yes 100's of burglaries. Shame on the DA's Office.

He's the DA in Suffolk County. Cambridge is in Middlesex County.

Technically, he did have bail set for the Back Bay charge, but the judge agreed with the Suffolk County DA's office to revoke his bail on the Cambridge charges, so he gets to sit in jail for awhile.
