Small restroom fire emptied Boston Latin School this morning

A men's room fire sent Boston Latin students and staffers outside just before first-period classes around 7:52 a.m. today.
The Boston Fire Department reports the cause of the fire - extinguished by school workers before firefighters arrived - is under investigation. A BPS spokesperson says the school was evacuated for about 20 minutes.

What actually happened
I am a freshman at the school, and I was walking by the bathroom where the fire was when the alarm went off. Another freshman had lit paper towels on fire with his lighter, then went outside and hid it. As the day proceeded he started to tell people he was the one who did it and where he hid the lighter, so he got pulled from class and is either suspended or expelled.

I can actually remember having been that dumb when I was that age.
I'm willing to bet that the kid in question is neither insane nor an arsonist nor a troublemaker, but instead that someone found a lighter, and one thing led to another..... the adolescent version of "Hey, hold my beer a sec and watch this..."
What ACTUALLY happened
He probably didn't go running around telling a ton of people, rather, had one watch, tell a few good friends, and then he probably went off and hid the lighter. I know who did it, I'm a freshman at Boston Latin too, and I know him well. Rumors got spread around on who did it and THAT'S how everyone knew that day who did it. BTW, there is a camera that saw him walk in and out when the fire was set, so he was screwed either way. And he's not arrested nor expelled, but suspended and will return this week.

Looks like BLS is in more trouble since I left. A lot more than my fire and my ex getting suspended for drinking.
I WAS OUT OF CLASS SINCE R2! Matter of fact, I met with Mr. Flynn during R1! How can I run my mouth that much throughout the course of the day when I was out of class? Sure, I told my current girlfriend and a couple close friends of mine. I was caught burying the lighter and didn't tell anybody until I was suspended and out of school that Friday. Funny how your facts are so off.
