Sorry, the Corner still doesn't have a drive-up window

BMW in Downtown Crossing in Boston where it shouldn't be

Washington Street downtown apparently calls to motorists, but unfortunately for them, there often seems to be a Boston cop stationed right outside Bath and Body Works to pull them over and explain to them why they shouldn't be driving down that stretch of the street, as Jesse Haley shows us tonight.

What's with the city's aversion to installing bollards? Nice big chunks of metal, granite, or reinforced concrete work wonders in keeping massholes off sidewalks they don't belong.

The south end of Washington St does have movable bollard-type things with a chain between them that come out in the evening. However, during the rest of the day the road is (annoyingly) still open to delivery vehicles and taxis, plus construction vehicles for Millennium Tower.

Boston has tens of thousands of blocks. There are maybe 5 blocks set aside as pedestrian zones yet the awful drivers of Boston insist on illegally driving on those few blocks.

If someone walked onto a highway they would be arrested for trespassing right? Well arrest these drivers who endanger people in pedestrian zones for trespassing and suspend their license. Or at least station cops on the outskirts of the pedestrian zone and have them stop cars before they enter.

I don't think they arrest you unless you're doing something else illegal. But chances are the police will stop you in short order. Contrast that with dangerous driving in the city where it's highly unlikely you'll be stopped except in a few specific places like DTX.

When the cop pulls them over are they told to stop in the crosswalk like that or are they such horrible drivers they think that's the best place to go?

I really wish you lost your license for doing stuff like this. Or at least switch to the Scandinavian system where the ticket cost is relative to your annual salary.

One by one, if they're traveling in a pack.
