Train to Providence is wicked late, riders wail, bemoan their fate

Actually, lots of delays out of South Station, but thank goodness: The Patriots train left on time.

Were usual trains really delayed to keep the Pats train on-time? If so, a disgrace.

The Pats train is a single train, right? I can't imagine all of the delays were caused by taking one train out of regular service for a special trip...

There are two game day trains, when trains are scheduled. Some games do not have trains.

One leaves So. Station and travels the NEC to Readville then switches to the Franklin branch through Norwood. At Walpole it switches off to the Framingham Secondary south to the stadium.

The second comes from providence. It travels inbound toward Boston on the NEC and just short of Mansfield it switches to the southbound track, then passes through Mansfield station. Access to the Framingham Secondary is just north of the station platform and that only connects to the southbound track, and from there it goes to the stadium.

He would have made far better time 100 plus years ago. The MBTA is a daily clusterphuk.

Thankfully, I've learned to always have charged devices and snacks on hand, and to use the rest room before boarding.

We had one of the newer engines, and it suddenly went kaput. The first announcement about trying to fix things was made by what sounded like a defeated man. He then made a second announcement letting us know that we were officially stuck.

One of the usual conductors took over (infrequent) announcements with his usual sense of humor. While we were happy to eventually get pushed forward to Sharon (rather than back to Canton Junction as previously announced), once we got there, there was nothing. We didn't know whether to get off, and if so, whether we should board the rescue train. Turned out the announcement didn't get to every car. We were directed to get off the dead train, cross over to the inbound side and wait for the next train over there. The mass exodus was confined to the handicapped ramp on one side, as (of course) the stairs were undergoing repair.

Upon arriving on the inbound side, we all start noticing that the electronic signs indicate that the next outbound train will indeed be on the outbound side. Not where we are all waiting. This being the commuter rail, no one knows whether to actually trust the sign. Some head back over, some wait in the middle on the overpass, and some wait it out. The train arrived on the outbound side, and everyone used the broken stairs as well as the ramp to get back over. To the 5pm train. Which was a treat.

We arrived in Providence, pulling up to the platform which has had a disassembled escalator for months.

At least the red line didn't suck on my way to south station?

This being the commuter rail, no one knows whether to actually trust the sign.

Yup. The only thing the MBTA has accomplished by putting up ETA signs is now rather than people having no information, they can have wrong information, so often that the signs are worthless.

Well obviously Charlies plan to increase fares, stop expansion (green line, DMUs), and cut back on hours along with the abysmal service will get him what he and the rest of the republicans really want, to end public transportation in Mass.

It took me almost an hour and a half to get from Mystic Avenue in Somerville to Milton, and I heard on WBZ that traffic was backed up all the way from Foxboro to Winn Street.

They shouldn't be allowed to have weekday games, period. I'm sick of sitting in Bob Kraft's traffic jams wasting my time and my gas just so he can make boatloads of money.

I was on a Providence train which took an extra 90 minutes to reach South Attleboro. It was on the loudspeaker that it a disabled train blocking up the tracks somewhere in Dedham. The conductors were nice to keep us informed often.

I was on one of the delayed Needham trains. Before boarding, I noticed on Twitter that the previous train was disabled between West Roxbury and Hersey. As we made our way to Needham there was no mention of it so I believed it had been cleared. We left the West Roxbury Station and just pulled up to the disabled train and waited. There was very little information shared. Had they announced at West Roxbury most people would have gotten off. One guy jumped from the train and headed out on foot. People were asking how come they left the WR station and why we couldn't go back. All conductors just blamed it on the dispatchers. It is just so unbelievable to me that there is so little common sense. Stranding people between stations and giving no updates is inexcusable.

What I dont understand about the Patriots is that they have a key slot receiver like Amendola the only one left standing, with Edelman gone, and the Patriots keep grinding him down on punt return duties. They did this with Welker too. Put some good hands out there and call a fair catch, stop grinding down guys. O sorry forgot about the train, although they did some work in Medfield on the highway 27 rail crossing, might be Foxboro footballers related.
