A tweet from Channel 25 helps cops nab New Yorker with alleged fake Patriots tickets

Garcia

Transit Police report arresting a guy from New York at South Station today on charges he was trying to palm off four bogus tickets to this Sunday's game - for $800.

Police credit a Channel 25 tweet about an arrest of alleged fake-ticket sellers in Somerville - and an alert would-be buyer of the doubtful ducats:

The male answered an ad posted on Craigslist to purchase 4 New England Patriots playoff tickets for Sunday's game for approximately 800.00 dollars. The seller and the male agreed to meet at the MBTA's South Station. While the male was waiting for the seller to arrive he saw a tweet posted on Boston's Fox 25 news twitter account relative to fraudulent playoff tickets. The tickets referenced in the news account were the exact same seats and section of the stadium the male was scheduled to purchase. Armed with the information the male sought out Transit Police Officer Donovan.

So police were ready when Randy Garcia, 22, of New York City, showed up not long after. Garcia is now scheduled for arraignment Tuesday on a charge of larceny over $250 by false pretense in Boston Municipal Court.

Innocent, etc.

The Transit Police are doing a great job but south station is turning into a haven for drunks and thieves and the men's room into a hotel for the homeless
