Visitors to new public market might get to buy some local craft beer with their fresh root vegetables

A couple that runs a brew-your-own-beer place in Newton is seeking permission to open a small beer store inside the impending Boston Public Market at Haymarket.

Lee and Karen Cooper go before the Boston Licensing Board on Wednesday seeking a liquor license for a 404-square-foot space to be called Hopster's Alley.

The Boston Public Market recently announced plans to open in July, as a year-round market for locally produced foods.

The board's hearings begin at 10 a.m. in its eighth-floor hearing room in City Hall.
