What Bill O'Reilly did see

So maybe the Fox commentator didn't actually witness wars, murders, fatal bombings, suicides or concrete-hurling rioters, but one thing he did watch was pornography in Boston.

"O'Reilly, who also wrote about nonpornographic films, described Damiano as "the Samuel Goldwyn of hard-core pornography" and the "high priest of porno-chic." That said, O'Reilly wasn't easily impressed by the provocative filmmaker.

During a post-film Q&A session, O'Reilly wrote, Damiano offered up "the usual banalities and well rehearsed answers concerning censorship, the Supreme Court and so on, that a man in Damiano's position must constantly spew forth.""

Just sayin...

Those who were not around back then cannot imagine how different things were. There was, however briefly, a certain sense of openness. Films like "Deep Throat" and "The Devil in Miss Jones" were shown in mainstream theaters. Husbands and wives went. They were openly discussed on talk shows such as the Dick Cavett Show, shows that were far more intellectual than their counterparts today. I am not an O'Reilly fan or supporter, but it would seem that as a journalist for the Phoenix in 1974, and whatever his political slant, he was simply doing his job.

Therefore social conservatism is entirely false and social liberalism is thoroughly vindicated.

Nationally known commentator who may be a serial exagerator has a Boston link; film at 11.

He is a huge hypocrite and liar and always has been.

How about a married man sexually harassing another woman on the phone, with very graphic sexual suggestions that she insert a certain thing in a certain place. And later he got divorced.
How does that behavior relate to his allegedly precious Catholic conservative values?

Billo is a fraud, a liar, a cheat, and a horrible human being. Fuck him and his defenders.

Social conservatism is entirely false and social liberalism is thoroughly vindicated. I couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks

Bill O'Reilly, Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump, Rush Limbaugh, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, the Kochs ...

Affluent and privileged white men that have accurately surmised that affluent and privileged white men are slowly but most assuredly losing their control over us. Dinosaurs nostalgic about the pre-meteor days.

Whatever.

so white males should have no voice?

The "White Males" are arguing that their voice is more important then anyone else's. They are claiming that anyone who disagrees with them is un-American, uneducated, destructive, and conspiratorial.

The "White Males" in question demonize those who propose ideas instead of arguing the policy itself.

White males absolutely should have a voice - but so should each and every person, whether their ancestors came from Asia, Europe, Africa, whether they are male or female, regardless of sexuality or religious belief. No one has the right to more than one vote.

I am a white male. I have seen how my skin color has been to my advantage. I have seen where a man's black and brown skin was a disadvantage.

The insane gerrymandering in Texas, the illogical and bankrupt reasoning of Citizens United, the new hurdles put in place against voting, the millions spent by the Kock brothers, and Mr. O'Reilly's attempts to maintain culture war, all - in my opinion of course - derive from a desire to turn back the social clock to a time when most people believed that God ordained an order to society: men over women, whites over blacks, Asians and Latins forgotten and treated as though they don't exist, Christian over Jew and other non-Christians, Protestant over Catholic, rich over middle class, middle class over poor, etc.

But that is not what is happening. A nearly unbelievable order of social equality is developing. The atavistic animal like hierarchies of dominance are slowly loosing dominance. But because those hierarchies are loosing dominance, the people who are invested in maintaining older orders are pissed, scared and are doing everything they can to stop what is inevitable. While I don't see our political system ever evolving into an Eden (greed, lust, ambition will always be present) I do see a nation that slowly is evolving toward living up to the ideals set, strangely enough, over 200 years ago. That is what frightens Mr. O'Reilly - that the essential ideas of equality of person, of one person one vote -for all people - is slowly becoming reality.

Its the same liberal school of thought where people scream about discrimination but celebrate racial quotas.

OK, so reporting the Falklands war from his Buenos Aries hotel room wasn't so dangerous, but consider the risks he took reviewing porn films where the floors are typically sticky or slippery!
