What would happen if everybody in China jumped off a chair at the same time and ran to a Dunkin' Donuts?

We could find out one day: Dunkin' Donuts announced today a deal with a franchisee to open 1,400 Dunkin' Donuts in China over the next 20 years. Dunk's currently has just 16 outlets in the Middle Kingdom.

In addition to coffee, Coolattas and bagels, Chinese Dunkin' Donuts offer mochi-ring donuts, which, the company informs us, are made with mochi, a "glutinous rice that tastes far more delicious than it sounds," in flavors that include green tea, mango and banana.

Do the new China stores come with homeless crack heads just like the stores in the US?

Seems we have at least one BPD officer we could send them for decorative purposes.

Just call it a "Shanghai Detail".

Mister Donut is big in Japan so I imagine it's not that far to ship our fare brand over as well.

Dunkin Brands owns the Mister Donut trademark. From what friends tell me in Japan, its almost identical to Dunks. Hell every so often here you'll see joint signage for both..

Curious to if they will open as Dunkin Donuts Coffee & More (which is the name used over seas) or as a Mister Donut.

This is an irrelevant comment. Japanese people are not Chinese people.

In the old days exporting our crummy coffee and donuts would be considered an act of war

Won't kill many people (quickly) with coffee and doughnuts -but apparently half a dozen people died and two dozen went to the hospital after eating mochi in Japan over New Year's where it's considered a seasonal treat.

About ten years ago, there was a Starbucks inside the Forbidden City, behind Tiananmen Gate. For some reason, a lot of people thought that was inappropriate for China's premiere historical site, and there was an uproar. The *$ was moved elsewhere.

How do you pronounce "cruller" in Mandarin?

A million more stryrofoam cups thrown in the ocean every day. When is that goddam company going to switch to paper cups?

Those cups make the coffee taste even more like chemical plastic water. Furthermore that squeak you get handling the styrofoam cup is like nails on a chalkboard.

Apparently NYC has banned Styrofoam cups beginning this year. If that means a lot to companies such as DD, then maybe they'll change it, worldwide?

Dude, I want mochi donuts! I love everything mochi.

Plus it sounds way better than any donut I've actually had at Dunks... ever? (I grew up in VA, I'm a Krispy Kreme man through & through).

I've been to a DD in South Korea. It's much nicer than here. The donuts taste pretty good (better than the bland, dry ones they sell here) and there are way more variety. One thing I thought was interesting was that you grab a tray and use tongs to pick your own donuts from the display. Also, no styrofoam cups.
