Will city snare this South Boston space saver?

Snare drum space saver

Southie Spots acknowledges it's time for South Boston residents to face the music and remove their space savers, now that Mayor Walsh has changed his tune and begun beating the drum for less cluttered streets.

Your space-saver policy....not exactly my tempo

Were you rushing, or were you dragging?

It tricked me into believing Whiplash was a good movie and in turn caused me to waste 2 hours of my life. What a bad movie.

I hate litter so I pick up and throw away all the garbage inconsiderate people leave on the street near my house. I do this year round so this includes the broken TV and patio chair that were on the side of the street this morning.

The trash folk won't pick them up unless you contact them in advance. Something about the mercury in older sets. There is no charge for pickup, but the call (or e-mail) must be made.

Chairs, of course, go out normally.

With DPW crews of Boston, Cambridge and elsewhere rounding up all these space-savers, we could build ourselves an impressive bonfire.

Since the space-saver practice seems have plenty of life left in it, the good news is that we should have a bonfire supply for years to come, and won't have to borrow snow-melting equipment from New York or other cities in the future.

"Take that, snow fahm!"

It all makes sense now... clearing parking spaces with spontaneously combusting heavy-metal drummers...

Spring can't come too soon...

What's the address? I'll save the city some time and go get it myself.

I was wondering where the Flock of Seagulls drummer moved to....

There will still be space savers out after Monday. They will just be replaced with new ones. If someone parks in that spot before the new one is put there then a note will be taped to the car telling them to move or else. This will just keep going on until snow melts. Residents will use them until people start shoveling out the cars that haven't been touched since first snow storm. Those cars covered in snow should be removed before space savers are. They are just giant space savers. Cars shouldn't be able to sit for months without moving. It's just as bad!
