16-year-old charged with Chelsea mass shooting that left one dead

A 16-year-old from Lynn is scheduled for arraignment tomorrow on charges he shot up a party early Sunday, killing Pablo Villeda, 19, and sending six other people to the hospital with gunshot wounds, Chelsea Police and the Suffolk COunty District Attorney's office report.

The teen, arrested tonight, will be named at his arraignment in Chelse District Court tomorrow, authorities say.

"We cannot and we will not tolerate this level of gun violence, especially when it leaves our young people dead and injured," Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes said.

Authorities added their investigation remains active and that they continue to seek information from people who might have seen what happened.

The shooting victims ranged in age from 15 to 22. Another person was also taken to the hospital with non-gunshot injuries.

What's with all the 16 year olds doing this lately? Gangs putting juveniles up to it for a lesser rap?

Juveniles can't get life sentences for murder anymore.

They need a separate hearing, however, under the ruling in Miller v. Alabama.

but what can you get for murder + shooting 6 other people, + whatever weapons charges, et cetera.

sorry, i guess i should have mentioned i was considering the totality of his crimes, not one of them.

You can still get a life sentence, you just can't get life without the possibility of parole.

When I was 16, my main concern was Pac Man and passing geometry. Kids grow up so fast now.

I wouldn't call shooting people an act of "growing up."
