Boy, that escalated quickly

French Toast Alert: Elevated

Klaxons started going off in the French Toast Alert bunker when the news broke: The storm that was supposed to give us maybe a dusting could now smack us with 4-8 inches overnight. You know what to do: Go clear out some space in your trunk for the fixin's you're going to go pick up.

for the SouthCoast last night, with the cavaet that the storm might shift or expand. So I'm not totally surprised this has happened.

And, as has been posted below by others, that Winter Storm Watch - Correction, it's now a Winter Storm Warning - has been expanded to include Boston.

I agree, especially since several of the models had been trending leftward (or westward) in the last few runs.

While we noticed this, however, we are going to see whether the state, the T and the cities and towns and everyone else have been paying attention. Even if we ticked up to the upper part of the accumulation spread, this should be a non-issue particularly since it's a non-holiday weekday (staff should be available). That said, the timing (a.m. rush) and an ill-informed public could really bollix up the operation. As I've learned over the last decade, however, working on Friday seems to be something that fewer of us do with each passing year so it might be just fine.

And, as kvn has posted below, that Winter Storm Watch has been expanded to include Boston.

Has it? I can't find Boston mentioned anywhere in the notice that kvn posted.

Very strange: Had just turned on WBZ 1030, when the Nuclear War Attention Signal came on, followed by an overmodulated robot reading a Winter Storm Warning, which you can read here and which definitely includes not only Boston but Norwood.

is generally very good. But they really need to improve on the automated voices they use for their broadcasts. Although they're not quite as primitive as the robo-voice for the Logan Airport ATIS (Automated Terminal Informatiuon System) broadcasts.

I've already shoveled my space out and put out a chair.

I like getting things done early.

With my office move, I've been rising at 430am to be at the office by 6. And I'm running between two offices all day.

Tomorrow is just going to suck.

OKay, it's clear you're on my facebook page.. you must see my daily nightly installments of "My facial expression says it all" pictures of what I look like when I get home.

Truthfully.. I've been chewing Nicotine Gum for almost 2 years, and I wanted to stop next week... nahhhhhh I just picked up a two huge boxes of it and said "I'll try after my company moves"

But seriously, I'm starting to think doing an office move is the best way to play fast and loose with your sanity.

I'm not in on your nightly FB selfie action, but I can relate all the same, man. Lloyd Bridges in Airplane! is universal.

in Airplane (IMO) was getting Robert Stack to play Captain Kramer. This was a subtle addition to the whole "let's parody airline disaster movies" theme, as Robert Stack played the airline captain in The High and The Mighty, which is widely recognized as the first entrant in the 'airliner in peril' gendre.

He played the dashing young Lt. Sobinski in To Be or Not To Be, with Carole Lombard as Maria Tura:

Sobinski: I hope you'll forgive me if I acted a little clumsy, but this is the first time I ever met an actress.
Maria Tura: Lieutenant, this is the first time I've ever met a man who could drop three tons of dynamite in two minutes.

forecast for heaviest axis of snow shifted still further north and west to put most of Boston and all non-south shore suburbs into the bulls eye.

This makes me laugh because there will be some many people grumbling that this "wasn't supposed to happen" as if Mother Nature gives a flying Philadelphia about what any of us thinks is "supposed to" happen.

I won't believe there is any snow coming until I hear Plum Island mentioned on the news. Plum Island, that mysterious place that only materializes when there is snow.
