Don't leave ID in your car; police say gang is breaking into cars and using IDs for bank fraud, identity theft

Wanted for bank fraud

Boston Police report they are looking for this woman in connection with a gang that's breaking into cars looking for IDs members can use to fraudulently suck money out of people's bank accounts.

The suspect was last seen operating a white Toyota Camry with a Plymouth 400 Commemorative plate of PL1613. It is believed that the suspect is part of a larger group of individuals who break into vehicles and then commit bank fraud with the stolen identifications taken during those breaks.

The Boston Police Department is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact Sergeant Detective Dentremont at (617) 594-3148 or the BRIC at (617) 343-4328.

Police say the gang has been active in several Boston-area towns.

Cambridge Police, meanwhile, are looking for a guy spotted using multiple ATM cards to make withdrawals from an ATM at the 7-Eleven at 750 Mass. Ave.

Too bad, whomever gets caught here will only wear an ankle bracelet.

I don't understand why anyone would leave their ID or anything valuable in their car living in the greater Boston area. Recently I was putting some trash in the dumpster behind my building and I watched a guy walk down the alley, looking in each parked car's window to see if there was anything worth a "smash and grab". He finally noticed me glaring at him and scuttled away.

are naive, other people are stupid, and other people are just plain lazy. Like people who leave their cars unlocked and running while they run into the store.

be glad they're at least taking things from your car and not leaving them.

In San Francisco it's common for the homeless to break into cars for a private place to defecate. So your windows are smashed AND your upholstery is ruined.

Ever since I heard this was A Thing, I won't even keep tissues in plain sight in the car. Someone might think it's free toilet paper.

The commonwealth will cancel your old one and issue a new one. Once canceled, the old one won't turn up as valid.
