Hoverboard sets Hanover Street building on fire

The Boston Fire Department reports a hoverboard that burst into flames forced the evacuation of a three-apartment building at 406 Hanover St. in the North End tonight.

Flames were showing when firefighters pulled up at 9:03 p.m. to the 4 1/2-story wood building just steps from a BFD firehouse.

The hoverboard fire, which started in a third-floor bedroom, did an estimated $100,000 in damage the department says, adding occupants were able to find places to stay with family or friends.

Am occasional fire or two is a small price to pay for seeing all those morons faceplanting after hitting anything bigger than two molecules.

These things are a known fire danger yet they still kept their toy. I'm sure their neighbors in the adjoining apartments appreciate the smoke damage done to their units. Having been through an apartment building fire -- you can't just air out the smoke smell...
