Yep. My guess is around 1913 when St. Louis rubber company was listed next door at 157 Court St., and John McNeil & Co. was listed at 165 Court St.

...well, anyone can look this up in an old city directory. Kind of takes the fun out of it. Isn't the point to guess?

I've always seen the research as the fun of it. It's a great excuse to sift through historical newspapers, city directories, maps, etc. My guesses just guide the research.

Finding the right combo of John R. McNeil & Co. along with the address number "165" on google book search led to revealing Court Street address in the 1913 Boston city record here.

Then checked 161 Court Street (couldn't find anything more than an apartment resident's name) and 157 Court Street led to finding the St. Louis Rubber company in the 1913 Directory of Massachusetts Manufacturers here.

I couldn't find anything on the photo studio mostly because Rembrandt is mentioned in just about every art and/or photo studio that has been mentioned online since the beginning of time. Even with the address I never found a mention of it.

Federal Street, ca. 1920

I dunno, but I can't help but wonder if the packy next door sold Myers's rum.

Thanks for playing, folks! This was taken on March 9, 1913 and shows 157-165 Court Street.
