High time for this job: Pot promoter seeks BU 'ambassador'

Weedmaps, a company that claims it can help you "find the good stuff," is looking for a student at Boston University to serve as a "brand ambassador" to get people hooked on its smartphone app:

As the [student ambassador], you will be relied on to incorporate the Weedmaps brand into Boston University’s biggest moments and dopest parties throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to sharpen your marketing skills while managing the Weedmaps brand on your campus. Best of all, you’ll get to be a part of the Weedmaps family which means perks, perks, and more perks!

The ad doesn't say just what those perks are, but whatever they are might have to wait until 2018.

To apply, you have to be a BU student, submit your class schedule and social-media handles and write an essay explaining what you can do for the company and answering the question, "why are you passionate about cannabis?"

The shit is legal and people are already finding ways to profit. Meanwhile the legislature is pretending that this never happened and looking for ways to stall. Nothing good will come of waiting to have rules, taxes and a legal marketplace.

Wasn't that the point of legalizing it anyway? Revenue for everyone... except for the pot heads and the taxpayers.

so it doesn't seem appropriate to me for a cannabis company to have a "brand ambassador" to undergraduate students.

Alcohol branding is everywhere on college campuses and the surrounding area. The whole point is to raise awareness so as soon as these kids turn 21, they know what they want already

BU has a strict no-pot-on-campus-anywhere position so as not to jeopardize their federal funding (or that's the stated reason, at least).

If his brother happens to live there, and his brother's roommate is someone they all went to school with.

That's the way the vast majority of people get their weed - friend/family connections. Not by cruising around in "that" part of town that "we all know ..." saying some sort of magic catch phrase.
