Loren and Wally will soon be down to just Loren

Wally Brine

Wally Brine is retiring from WROR on Dec. 16, after 35 years working with Loren, originally on WVBF.

His father was Salty Brine, who broadcast for 50 years in Providence - and who helped him get his first job at WPRO there.

He can finally catch up on all those movies about gladiators he loves so much.

Without doing any further research on my own, please, please someone tell me that's his real name.

E: sorry wasn't meaning to comment on yours, just frantically, hysterically found any reply button I could.

From the website - About Loren and Wally Morning Show.

(No names have been changed – no one is being protected)

Yes, that was his real name.

Walter Lester "Salty" Brine. I'm still tickled by the idea of his actual name being Salty Brine, though. And I feel like it's festive enough for the Turkey holiday, to boot.

Salty Brine and Slim Pickens were two great radio names. I also believe two hosts went by Chuck Steak.

I'm happy for Wally. Enjoy retirement. While Loren and Wally catered to an older crowd, it's a little creepy to hear the elderly hosts on Kiss 108 flirting with the teen girls requesting songs. I only listen when forced by a younger relative or friend. Happy retirement Wally!

They have no such thing outside of morning drive. Seacrest is a mandate, Romeo can't be older than maybe 42, and Mikey V is clearly a youngin'.

I still remember Dale getting shown the door like two months after I moved here in 2003. Ed McMann was able to hold on a little longer. You can still hear him on Dunkin' Donuts Radio, which I hear only when I venture away from my neighborhood DD which doesn't have it.

Instead, they have Magic 106.7, where you can sometimes hear former Kiss jock Chris Shine. Cool story, bro.

**Romeo can't be older than maybe 42...*

That's still creepy to be hitting on teenage girls. ;-)

(And, sorry to say, to a teenage girl, 42 IS elderly!)
