Never mind the Legal ad about Clinton, what about the immigration and abortion ones?

#NoMames, Legal Sea Foods

Yeah, yeah, Legal Seafood calls Clinton a cold fish, but the chain also remarked on the size of Trump's hands. But it also has a TV ad that goes:

Some candidates want to limit a woman's right to choose. Not Roger Berkowitz. "All I can say is, if you're pro-choice, you'll LOVE how many options we have in our menu."

You can see that ad here (around 0:36).

A long long time ago, Legal served good seafood at a good price. Advertising was by word of mouth.

Now their food is way overpriced. And their clueless owner thinks his television ads are amusing. They are not amusing, and haven't been for a long time. Every time I see a Legal ad, it never makes we want to eat there. It just makes me think that Berkowitz is an idiot.

And this current round of ads makes him look like an a-hole. Go away Roger. You and your restaurants suck.

A while ago Legal found it would be more profitable to cater to tourists and those from the distant suburbs who didn't know any better. People who wanted "Boston Seafood" from a place that was commercial enough not to seem threatening for people who fear small, local restaurants.

It's a strategy which seems to be working out just fine for them.

Definitely overpriced , always has been.
Remember folks, never eat fish at a resturaunt on a Monday.. Because it will always be Friday's catch...

The one thing both sides of the abortion issue can agree on is that is a very serious subject, and not amusing at all.
Roger Berkowitz is a fool.

I think they might be selling some of Cartman's succulent shrimp.

and clever, but land instead on obnoxious and/or offensive, and always punishingly unfunny. There are few things more cringe-inducing than a eyebrow-waggling grandpa trying to sound hep.

Thank goodness Boston has a couple of handfuls of truly excellent seafood places these days. This chain has been embarrassing for a while.

Berkowitz was quoted as saying "It would be disingenuous to do an ad on Trump and not one on Hillary"

Earth to Roger: You don't need to do an ad on Trump or Hillary, or abortion, or immigration. These are serious times and these issues and the choice of candidates for president are very serious.

What a friggin idiot.

On top of that, everyone seemed not to notice when Trump was involved. But now that the Madame is involved, well, heavens!

Is where I eat when my mom comes to Boston and I let her pick the restaurant, because if she attempts to veto my picks when I visit Burlington, I throw a fit. So, she gets her way when she comes down here, and yes, the almost 60-year old lady wants to eat at Legals when she visits Boston. I don't hate Legals, but it's not a place I would pick independently for multiple reasons, chief among them my cuts to my dining out budget as I try to figure out a career path.

I think Berkowitz is throwing strikes with his ads if that's his batter.

...it's likely a better deal.

Kind of ironic considering some years back his restaurants were caught with a cleaning contractor who was not paying the undocumented workers who were cleaning his restaurants. When confronted with this he did the usual "Oh they're not MY employees...I have no control over the contractors." Turdmonger.

call his chain of restaurants a "chain of restaurants". He dislikes the word "chain."

I agree, overpriced, mediocre food. Many other better places to eat fish in Boston and its environs.

Ninety percent of his menus are indistinguishable, and even where the look of the rooms or some dishes vary -- oh, look: Legal Crossing's seared tuna sashimi with wakame, wasabi and pickled ginger is totally wicked different from Legal Copley's blackened raw tun “sashimi” with sesame chili vinaigrette, seaweed salad and wasabi, which in no way could possibly be confused with Legal Test Kitchen's blackened raw tuna sashimi with chili garlic, vinaigrette and wasabi sauce -- one can't escape their corporate, soulless, assembly-line quality.

If it looks, waddles, and quacks like a chain, guess what?

One of the bad things about the Internet is the constant presence of people, on both sides, that are constantly outraged and offended by something.

I am virulently pro-choice, and I didn't see the ad as offensive-- an ad which, after all, is poking slight fun at the prochoice side, not the antichoice side. Silly, but not offensive.

The immigration one, on the other hand-- the implication that Mexican immigrants are eating overpriced Legal Seafoods fish erstaz tacos is offensive. Not up there with calling all immigrants rapists and murderers, but low level offensive.

The rest just aren't clever. Slim is right-- it's phony edginess, like an advertising fauxhawk.

That the company handling Legal Seafoods advertising is still the clowns who did those horrid chip-on-your-shoulder Suffolk University ads is apparent. How do they stay in business?

I laughed at both the Hillary and the Trump ads.

Those ads are more memorable and entertaining than any other current print ads (and look, we're talking about them) so they must be working.
