Unfortunately, here we go again:

1. Wait for someone to die.
2. Wait some more.
3. Talk big about doing something useful.
4. Wait again.
5. Implement half-assed measure at one specific location that does little or nothing to improve safety.
6. Return to Step 1.

So sad and unnecessary. Where's that Vision Zero implementation?

Even more suicide deaths than traffic deaths. Where are the vision zero plans for those?

When pedestrians choose not to wear high visibility clothing or look both ways crossing the street, what do you suggest be done to fix irresponsible pedestrians?

Look! Over there! THERE'S SOMEBODY DYING OF SOMETHING ELSE THEREFORE IT IS OKAY TO KILL PEDESTRIANS WITH NEGLIGENT AND AGGRESSIVE DRIVING!!!!!

So, tell the class Mr. KK: what have you done about that heroin epidemic you keep talking about lately? Huh?

Just because people have organized to deal with bad roadway design and bad driving doesn't mean that you can't possibly actually put your arse where your talking arse is and get involved with the efforts that various communities have initiated to curb overdoses and suicides.

with more impact on the population than obsessing over small ones.

The GLX is another waste of money for the construction industry. More oil is burned in Mass. and New England for heating than for all transportation! That oil burned in furnaces gets no catalytic converters or any pollution controls when burned unlike fuel burned by cars and trucks. So reducing heating oil consumption is a much bigger opportunity to reduce air pollution than spending $3B on the GLX. Instead that money could go to helping homeowners and landlords install heat pump split systems or natural gas furnaces.

You go do that then. Nobody is stopping you. Don't tell others what their priorities are. If you want government to shift focus, get your ass off the couch and out of the car and get to it.

Don't agonize ... organize!

p.s. the problems of cars aren't just about oil. There is no parking downtown, nor will there be. Also, the air pollution problems, runoff problems, traffic safety problems, and all the other impacts of cars kill people and cost money, even if you deny that they exist or laughably claim they can be fixed.

I walk around the city everyday. Ive come close to getting hit about a dozen times. In each instance it was broad daylight, I was hyper-vigilant, and walking inside the crosswalk on a walk signal.

When is the last time you were in Boston and took a walk? You have no insight into reality.

I have a basic human right to walk. If you can't see at night, don't drive at night.

Go slap yourself. Really, go beat yourself around the head and ears as hard as you can until you fall unconscious to the ground. Someone is dead, and you post this shit. You are an utterly contemptible piece of waste, and I can't imagine anyone who knows you is not ashamed to be associated with you.

Not paying attention to the traffic, probably stepping in front of the vehicle.

But I couldn't find the part about the pedestrian not paying attention, can you reveal your source?

Its a construction zone and workers are busy doing their jobs. The site is well delineated with even a temporary sidewalk marked with bollards, so the worker should not have been in the street.

Got an excuse for him?

Hit and run is a separate issue.

In that case, one could easily assume that driver was on Snapchat at the moment of the crash, correct?
