She has fluffed up her feathers to look bigger than she really is. Looks like a defensive posture to me. She may not be running away, but she's at least a little afraid.
To domesticated or semi-domesticated animals, humans mean there's food around and the silly humans will sometimes give you their food.
Plus, we've greatly reduced hunting over the years, especially in urban and suburban metro Boston, so many critters are over-populated, which why we're seeing more of all kinds of 'wild' animals, roaming around town.
I totes think we should bring back urban hunting [from wherever it may have gone]. Add an element of excitement to every day! The risk could fluctuate with what's in season. Cheers.
Otherwise they might see you as subordinate, and will treat you as subordinate. If they see people cower from them, or avoid them, they might expect that behavior from other people. It sounds silly, but we have to let them know who's boss.

The Turkey also looks like it's in the Fight for survival mode.
That's a sign that the turkey's not afraid to fight, if the animal deems it necessary, and a good "watch out" warning signal for people to heed.
