Trash barrels used to collect rain at Ruggles station on the Orange Line

Hilary reports the line of trash cans put into service as rain catchers at Ruggles station today was even longer, but she just didn't have a wide-enough-angle lens to fit them all in, but, hey, at least they're not shutting the entire T down for 29 hours to inspect power cables like down in DC, right?

MBTA finds out it has a toxic deathtrap situation, ignores the problem until there is eventually a mass casualty event then blames X,Y,Z to avoid fixing the underlying problem.

Promoting Beverly Scott to the NTSB probably was some paper pusher's sneaky way of making sure the MBTA could continue to get safety waivers in the event of future catastrophes.

and shuts down system completely. But only because Washington Metro previously found several serious situations and didn't address them immediately, resulting in even more serious situations that killed people.

Unlike WMATA, the MBTA has not been the subject of past, and numerous, NTSB investigations where their response to the agency's recommendations has consistently been to outright ignore them.

And, with respect, to argue that the purpose of appointing Beverly Scott to head the NTSB was some big plot to avert responsibility for the MBTA's problems demonstrates such ignorance about how the NTSB and Congress operates it staggers my mind.

You should see how bad Haymarket Station gets when it rains, specially the orange line walk through tunnel.
