Ahem, but the timing - the worst is supposed to hit just when buses would be running.

Cell phone, texts, emails, home phone...

But a part of me is sad that the anticipation during a slowly moving alphabetical list of schools on the radio is a thing of the past. Such dramatic tension!

Oh my goodness, that was better than watching the Super Bowl for me in middle-school. Such anticipation, such joy, such occasional devastation.

"Randolph
...
Revere"

Gah! But then my mother got a job in the local Jr High/Middle School. Phone trees were amazing things: that 5:30/6 am phone call was heaven. "Go back to sleep, no school."

And hearing the list of schools come out:

Brookline......New Hampshire......

Then having to get out of bed pissed off.

My boy, a senior who won't have to make up the days, was watching as Malden called off, then Everett, Chelsea, Winchester, Somerville (oh c'mon - Somerville!) and then Medford appeared on a refresh of the WCVB listing.

He just vanished out the door to roam with a pack of friends until later "since it's a three day weekend" ...

Close the daycare = working from home productivity disaster.

So, see you all sledding at Fallon Field after lunch?

Open BPS = stranded kids during inevitable MBTA failure.

and stranded commuters.

I may whine about Chelsea's buses alot.. (the 111 just sucks) but its times like these that I value them. 7 minutes to downtown. Once I get off at Haymarket, I can walk to work (and avoid a train).

I'm hoping it will be smooth sailing when I leave the house at 5:30 tomorrow morning..

Channel 5 better not cut off "Madoff" for any Storm Team Coverage of an 8" storm.

My daughter's improv troupe was going to have their first show of the year tomorrow. Now it's been pushed back to March 11th! She spent much of the eve commiserating with her fellows via social media.

(Although I'm sure she won't complain about sleeping in!)

Looks like Brookline not giving in to the hype. Last night my weather app said 100% chance of snow for a solid 8 hours beginning.....a couple hours ago. Now, it says 30% chance.
Outside, not much going on.

Morning commute should be a breeze!

Might be a good move for schools with the norovirus outbreak.

Boston schools NEVER would have been cancelled for a relatively small snowfall like this. Nor would they have done it the night before.

I feel like such an old "get offa my lawn", but it's true. It's one thing to err on the side of caution, but all we ever get now is Chicken Little.
