Robbing a bank in a snowstorm not the smartest idea, Quincy pair learns

Brookline Police report arresting a Quincy man they say robbed a Washington Square bank and his alleged wheelwoman today because their getaway car stuck out like a sore thumb on this morning's snow clogged roads.

Police say the man robbed the TD Bank branch at 1641 Beacon St., by giving a teller a note demanding money and that he had a gun, around 10:40 a.m. He then hopped into the back seat of a car whose driver sped away and ran a red light in Brookline Village. Even aside from the light running, police had little trouble finding the car because "due to the storm there was limited traffic on the roads.

Police stopped the car at Willow Pond Rd. and the Jamaicaway, just across the line in Boston, where they found the man, 25, lying in the back, with a fresh change of clothes, the driver, 54, and the money from the bank.

Inside the money bag, along with a dye pack, was a GPS chip. Brookline dispatchers were giving the location of this car at 2 minute intervals, as they were being relayed to them by whoever monitors the GPS. Because of the SLOW driving, they were not sure if they were looking for a slow moving car or a running pedestrian (at 18 mph) The car drove right by the front of the Brookline Police station, that's when an alert cop noticed a car with a taillight out, running a red light down the street. If not for the snow, I would have that arrest photographed, and covered :-(
I just missed getting there in time. Good job by BPD.

Awwww.

Kevin was too young to know that injecting The Pots would lead his whole family to a life of crime!

I've been told - by someone who has done it - that the ink from dye packs can be scrubbed off.

Going up to visit her during the Xmas holidays - she still has 3 years left on the sentence.
