Toyota and Honda owners in Roslindale and West Roxbury might want to invest in some locking lug nuts

BPD District E-5 is reporting seven Toyotas and Hondas in Roslindale and West Roxbury have been stripped of their tires since Nov. 7.

In a neighboring town, police say, a Sprinter-style U-Haul was spotted near where five cars had their tires and rims removed.

They are likely really after the optional factory or custom aftermarket machined aluminum rims (FKA "mags" by some of us born many years ago), not the stock steel wheels and hub caps, or even tires themselves. There have been waves of these thefts in the area including last year and in 2012.

Alloy wheels are stock on some models, like the Fit Sport.

And these teams can remove or just break off locking lug nuts in a matter of seconds.

Still get jacked all the time. There is a huge market due to ubiquity of some brands.
