Train dies on the Orange Line; for your commute, a bad sign

It's the dreaded "severe" delays into town from Forest Hills due to a train that mistook Chinatown for the Pearly Gates this morning. Oh, but wait, what's this? Yes, trains from Oak Grove into downtown aren't coming, either.

Just give Bakers plan a little more time. One of the biggest problems with the T is that it is running at capacity (or beyond) at peak times, so any small issue is magnified. Once the drastic fare raises go into effect, fewer people will use the T. The brilliance of his plan is that in case too many people are using the T 2 years from now, he can jack up the cost another 10%. With the gas tax and tolls staying flat, and massive parking garages being built for every building in the Seaport and elsewhere, people will leave the T in droves, relieving an "overburdened" system! The only other alternative is to expand the T, and Baker ain't no socialist commie.
