Two shot in Cambridge; one in serious condition

Cambridge Police report two men were shot around 8:10 p.m. at Harvard and Cherry streets.

One of the men was in serious condition when he was transferred from Cambridge Hospital to a trauma center in Boston; the second is expected to survive, but was also taken to Boston, police say.

Police say that when officers arrived at the scene, they found shell casings and blood, but no victims. Police soon heard from Cambridge Hospital that the two victims had arrived there.

Cambridge seems to be getting more dangerous, or at least certain parts of it are.

"More dangerous" compared to when?

When this was a "every few years" sort of thing, not "every few months."

There's no evidence that crime in Cambridge is trending upward. From 1995-2014 there was a 64% decline in reported violent crime and a 47% decline in property crime. From 2013-2014 violent and property crime fell by 10%. A shooting during the Caribbean Festival may just be more salient when shootings are rare across the city.
