You wouldn't think Harvard Square would be the best place to find people like that

Remember that only about 25% of the population voted for the guy -- the other 75% didn't vote or voted for someone else. It's a good thing 3rd parties aren't popular as Trump would have won with even less national support.

Clinton had no message. Apart from being Not-Trump it wasn't clear what she stood for and the 25% of voters wanted someone who stood for something, even if that something was pure hate and greed. (Or specifically because that message was Hate and Greed.)

Only 26.4% of Germany voted for Hitler.

Many people thought that she would continue to stand for the Wall Street establishment. I am one of them, but I didn't vote for Trump, because I don't think he's significantly different on that score. Neither one of them would actually stop making rich people richer at the expense of the middle class, no matter what they said. All the non-rich people who voted for Trump because of their economic situation are going to be disappointed.

Seems that they are exploiting election anxiety and putting on a blitz.

Not that she's necessarily affiliated with that, but I have to wonder in a sort of back of the cranium suspicious little way.

oops i read the headline too fast. Yeah, I passed her today and she was being lectured to by someone I think voted for Trump.

And just go direct to the bootleg Macedonian teen Facebook "news" pages. Or, less credibly, Breitbart.

Personally I'd rather talk ancient history with a 2 year old but to each his own.

PS, Trump is my president. I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher and will probably loyally oppose every word out of his mouth but ironically he won fair and square.

but she wants to listen to them non-judgmentally. Good for her. (I could never do this.)

This lady may find a much better response to her query by traveling a mere 10 miles North East of Cambridge. With a quarter of Cambridge’s population, Saugus got twice as many Trump voters (51% of the vote vs Cambridge’s 6.5%).

If she needs somewhere with Red Line access, the South Eastern corner of Dorchester will do. Precinct 16-12 (Florian Hall) came close enough with 48% of the vote going to Trump.

Where did you find precinct results?

I only know about this particular precinct because it was one of a handful that were highlighted in an article in this week's Dorchester Reporter. I am slightly obsessed with maps and stats, and I have never been able to find a full list of results by precinct. Please let us know if you are able to dig up anything!

What about South Boston or Charlestown, though?
(Even though Charlestown's on the Orange Line, not the Red Line, like Southie and Dorchester are.)

I wanted to head over to Cambridge with Cher, but she has gone to Jupiter. What kind of cookies is this woman offering, I could be persuaded.

I hope that liberals in Cambridge see the sign and thing: hey! That's a grown up thing to do. Maybe I too should try hard to listen to Trump supporters to better understand their hopes, fears, and ideas.

As for me: I'm a liberal sitting in Central Square right now. I hope to work hard over the next four years to listen to my fellow Americans who exercised their vote to support Trump -- I might learn something, they might learn something, and perhaps more cooperation will be in our collective future.

The second he lets up on Middle East nation building, the war crazies will stoke bombings and beheadings to use as a weapon against him.

I believe this was done with Obama and his red line in Syria. I think it was done with knowledge of some within the Obama administration.

Libs will have to do something the Republicans never did which is avoid the temptation to seize on every bit of bad news and use it to score points against the president.

Admiral Ackbar on this:
....... "Its a traaaaaaap!"
Stay away from the Liberal fem-bot.
You can tell by the shade of green puff Patagucci.

Reminds me of the "unsavory" mendicant who faked being hit by a car in from the the DD's on Mass ave. Lots of folks ran to help....but I saw it a mile away.

Heart strings, everybody wanna tug on em for they own "ends."

We are all "hurting" as humans who slouch towards still "wanting" to believe.

But I too think it's a setup. She may be Scientology, she may be a variant of Sob Story Guy. People upset about the election (or any other newsworthy issues) don't simply hold up signs in public and say "let's talk". Also, with all the news of recent assaults or threats of assaults (not to mention scary clowns) in and around college campuses and elsewhere, I doubt a solitary woman would simply invite Trump supporters, potentially hostile or not, to approach her.

Good for her instincts are spot on.

I'm with Elizabeth Warren and Bob Reich, the Democratic party needs to reconnect with blue collar people - one of its original constituencies. The sad truth is that the present Democratic coalition has given up on huge segments of the country other than to wag their fingers treating then errant children. For years the GOP has control of most State Houses in the country as well both houses of Congress.

While I realize that some portion of Hillary supporters are going through a grieving process, moving forward to the future requires that we begin to dialogue with people who have different views than us. Dialogue doesn't mean calling them names, accusing them of being racists or misogynists, but actually working to finding the base of their anger.

My experience is that their are some of these people are hateful, while the majority of them are simply frustrated for many years and took the opportunity to give the finger to establishment political leadership - first the Republican slate of candidates and then Mrs. Clinton.

Listening to angry people is not easy, yet as a liberal democrat I realize that if we want democratic voices to part of our nation's leadership, we need to work to make that happen.

. The Democratic party needs to expand so it's not loosing. Even in the Obama era, Republicans control most state houses and Federal Legislative seats.

President Obama, Paul Ryan and even Elizabeth Warren have tried to set the tone and they deserve thanks, but I think they need to speak louder.

I like what this woman is doing. I hope we all do more of it in the future. Maybe learn not to shout each other down and listen?
Good for her, we need more of this from the opposite side as well.

I've tried to engage people I know who voted for Trump on Facebook, but they refuse to say a word. I'm just looking for their honest reasons as to why they voted how they did.
