If Boston Police can't stop fireworks, how can they stop this bloodshed?

Obviously they already try connecting with the youth of the City through different outreach programs, but what else do you suggest?

Just need to find comatose, clairvoyant triplets.

Stop blaming the cops. If the village (i.e., mother, father, family, neighbors, friends, teachers) already failed these kids from the day they were born, through kindergarten, through elementary school), it's too late. All the police can do is arrest them now. The rest is up to the judge and the village.

What role do you play in the village? What have you done to support the youth?

I'm a volunteer at Women's Lunch Place every Saturday morning. I actually sit down with single mothers and their kids and help tutor math with their small kids. I've been doing it ever since 2004 and I find it extremely rewarding. That's who I am. Just another anonymous donor of my time not asking for any money. Now, who are you?

Congrats to you. What neighborhood is this women's lunching located?

You've never heard of Women's Lunch Place? Google it. It is located in the Church of the Covenant and is a daytime homeless women's shelter for homeless and poverty stricken women and their children. We do wonderful work.

We are lucky to have the BPD. They have a very difficult job and they are very good at it. Don't you think they are just as upset as the rest of us about the violence in the city? Don't you remember this story:

They showed remarkable restraint and made me feel very proud of our police force.

If you think you can do a better job, why don't you become a police officer?

I appreciate all the dialogue and sharing. What I believe is missing, usually missing and unaddressed are the impacts of institutional racism, the lineages of slavery in this country and the dehumanization of Black and Brown people. Until these are addressed black lives won't matter because it is not about just adding social programming dollars, but looking at the systems in place for people and particularly Black and Brown men to fail AND flat out DISMANTLING them. Anyone taking issue with these comments please be courageous enough to REALLY educate yourself on these matters. They still exist today and are in fact thriving. Slavery and oppression in this country has always been attached to dollars and still is. Truly freeing the oppressed means the oppressor would suffer great financial losses and the man is not trying to do that.
