Cambridge man awaiting federal trial on gun-theft charges escapes Rhode Island prison

Morales

State Police and federal marshals are looking for James Walker Morales, 35, an Army veteran from Cambridge who had been awaiting trial in a Rhode Island prison on charges he broke into a Worcester armory and stole ten handguns and six rifles.

State Police report finding Walker's prison clothes, with blood on them, under an I-95 overpass in Attleboro, near the Rhode Island line - and near a Burger King from which he apparently stole a car last night. State Police say the blood probably came from cuts he suffered while clambering out of the prison in Central Falls.

In addition to Cambridge, Morales, who is 6' and 175 lbs., has connections in Framingham, State Police say, adding he has an eagle tattoo on the left side of his neck.

Police initially linked Morales to the Worcester armory heist through DNA in the blood he left behind there and GPS data from the ankle bracelet he was wearing as a condition of bail in a Middlesex County child-rape case.

unanswered is the question of why helicopters were hovering in the Fenway\Symphony area last night. I haven't seen any reports of what was going on.

and ditched it in Framingham (at an undisclosed location), I doubt the helicopters over the Back Bay were looking for him.
