DA: West Roxbury couple turned Allston house into a brothel open 12 hours a day

Yuet Chow, 53, and Kim Chow, 68, were ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail today on charges of human trafficking related to the brothel they allegedly ran at 6 Haskell St in Allston, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

This is a different house than the one in Brighton raided by police last year. City councilors and Boston Police honored a neighbor of that house for dropping a dime.

The Chows were arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court following their indictment by a grand jury; they had initially been arraigned in Brighton Municipal Court in September.

The pair, who listed a VFW Parkway address in West Roxbury, solicited business on backpages.com and relied on women from out-of state to service customers, the DA's office charges.

According to the DA's office:

Assistant District Attorney Lynn Feigenbaum told the court that Boston Police detectives assigned to the Human Trafficking Unit began an investigation into activity at 6 Haskell St. after receiving a report of a steady stream of men entering the address each day and remaining inside for approximately a half-hour at a time from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm or later.

Prosecutors said that the Haskell Street house was leased under Kim Chow's name and the rent was paid from the Chows' joint bank account. The investigation revealed that Kim Chow traveled from the couple's West Roxbury home to the Haskell Street apartment at 8:00 a.m. each day and remained there until approximately 11:30 p.m., when the final client left, prosecutors said.

During the execution of search warrants in September, detectives located three young women at the Haskell Street address who had each traveled from New York City and were staying at the apartment for approximately 10 days, prosecutors said. Searches at the Brighton location and the Chows' home recovered ledgers, condoms, $20,000, and other evidence.

West Roxbury is a worse neighborhood than Roslindale.

Ponzi schemers.
Pimps.
Double parkers.
Anti-apartment NIMBY crazies.

All the worst scum of the earth can be found there.

It was a joke.

Don't forget Roslindale features stuff like:

Unsolved murders (Rowe St)
Gun trafficking with bonus shoot out (Newburg)
Islamic terrorist being gunned down (kind of) (Washington St)
Copious litter

and of course the recent split arrest of a drug ring with houses in both WR and Roslindale.

Is it the fact that the women were from out of state? Do they have to be unwilling and/or underage for it to be considered human trafficking? For comparison, it seems the operators of the Brighton brothel were just charged with prostitution.

Yes, transporting human beings across state lines for the purpose of selling them is generally frowned upon, whether they consent or not.
