Why can't Boston Police
Get Winter under control? There's blatant drug dealing among other activity in broad daylight, with tourists and locals alike having to navigate. Why is there usually zero uniformed police presence? Are they trying to extort stores and other business establishments in the area into hiring paid private police details?
write about it
but in addition to your comment here, write to the local government.
Some Fun Winter Street History
Years ago in the 70s, Winter used to be a cool street. There was a side entrance to Bailey's, whose ice cream sundaes were beloved by all. There was a long forgotten establishment called Chock Full O Nuts that sold fresh nuts, popcorn and other things, and Fannie Farmers selling chocolates. Fannie Farmers were ubiquitous back then and were always staffed, its seemed, by elderly women. My favorite was a cool head shop called Miles, located in the old Shepherd's Department Store art deco building, which had the unique layout of an upstairs floor and a basement floor while the street floor was, if I recall, a women's shoe store. The upstairs had posters and bootleg albums, the basement had incense, "paraphernalia", jewelry, and the like. Some years later Stairway to Heaven, a kind of 80s version of a head shop, would move in and use the same upstairs/downstairs layout, but it was a completely different animal, far more corporate, and not nearly as cool as Miles. But even that was better than now. It's sad to see that Winter Street has devolved into a shabby street of run down, shady establishments.
Chock Full O Nuts
Wasn't that a coffee shop? They used to be all over NYC.
The Boston Chock Full O Nuts
I think the Boston Chock Full O Nuts sold ground coffee in bags, but it wasn't a sit down place. It differed from the New York version.
For that matter, why can't Boston Police
serve the greater public interest by NAMING the suspect in a STABBING? This "too young to be named" is just plain BS.
It's this little thing called THE LAW
Don't like it? Convince the legislature and the governor to change the law that protects minors accused of non-capital crimes on the theory that they're kids who would be better served by rehabilitation than punishment.
Unless you want the police to start breaking the law, that is.
