Firefighter injured in two-alarm Hyde Park fire

Fire on Hyde Park Avenue

A fire called in around 5:50 a.m. at 1531-1533 Hyde Park Ave. did an estimated $100,000 in damage, displaced seven people and sent a firefighter to the hospital, the Boston Fire Department reports.

The fire started in the basement and traveled to upper floors, the department says, adding the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The department adds firefighters were aided by the fact that residents had shoveled out hydrants after yesterday's snowstorm.

On Tuesday, December 26th, 2017, at 6 AM I got a call from my mother worried because our neighbor's house across the street (1533 Hyde Park Ave, Hyde Park, MA) was on fire. The firefighters were at the scene. I took action and instantly called my childhood friend Bernadine Desanges, whose family still resides there. 8 of her family members have been displaced. Boston Fire Department estimated $100,000 in damages.

Thankfully, the family is safe and unharmed, but they lost nearly everything in the fire. No family deserves to go through this especially the day after Christmas. With the permission of my childhood friend, Bernadine, I have created this account.

Please help us raise funds to allow them to get their life and belongings back together. They are amazing, loving, caring, hardworking individuals and friends to many! Every little bit helps. Let's get them back on their feet as soon as possible. Please share this GoFundMe page with your contacts.
