Forest Hills gets a bit more walkable

New sidewalk open on Washington Street in Forest HIlls

Longtime Arborway observer Clay Harper took a look at the new sidewalks around Forest Hills station today:

Sidewalk open from FH Gate of @ArnoldArboretum all the way to @harvestcoop. Bike paths, not quite.

You mean - this project may actually be done someday???? I won't know what to do if I don't have to drive around an earth mover, or squeeze between two jersey barriers on bumpy pavement!

Between this and the building of the new apartments across from the bus yard, I thought that Forest Hills was a permanent construction site, or even a showroom for heavy equipment. I may have to go through withdrawal when (and if) this is ever complete.

That's the company line. Total completion, which I assume means all of the T station, by "spring 2018".

Good luck, lads.

Once again drivers are spoiled. There are sections with no sidewalk and the orange line constantly runs with delays because of the construction.

I'd like to take this time to personally thank Kinopio for his tax money that is being spent on this road repair project. Thank you fine sir!

Forest Hills has been very dangerous for pedestrians throughout this long long construction process. It seems like the "planners" never thought anyone would need to cross from South St. to the busway at the station.

If it were, would they have left the sidewalk Clayton is crowing about torn up for TWO YEARS?

Nope, this project has little to do with pedestrians or T riders. They just sold it as such.
