I wish they'd get out of the dark ages and allow beer/liquor in the hatch shell area along with big coolers for food.

During the event I was thinking how enjoyable it was without alcohol. Would you really want this event to be more like the bleachers at a Sox Game? Lots of other places to drink beer during the holiday.

Who gets to sit in the white chairs they set up on the Esplanade for the July 3 concert. The Esplanade is public property. These chairs should be made available to the elderly so they can equally particpate

Not sure who gets to sit in the white chairs... corporate sponsors or perhaps military veterans who are special guests? It was pretty clear from the jumbotron footage of the crowd and from what I saw walking around that most people, including elderly, were sitting in their own chairs that they brought with them. If you're so concerned, then why don't you offer to volunteer next year to help people with physical mobility issues to have access to seating. Or, you could continue bitching about all of the people who help to pull off this amazing event because of your perception that they don't care about the elderly. Furthermore, stop assuming that elderly are feeble. I saw plenty of people who appeared to be in their 70's and up walking around, smiling, laughing and having a great time with their family/ friends on the Esplanade.

There is space on July 4 for those with mobility issues, however it is an empty space for those in wheelchairs.

There are some people mostly elderly who though not in a wheelchair have mobility issues (though not as severe as those in wheelchairs),they do not have the strength necessary to carry a chair, and do not have the ability to get up and down from the ground. These persons simply can not participate in the concert at all without being able to use the set up chairs. Can understand that on July 4 it may be too crowded but since chairs are already set up on July 3 those who can not participate without being able to use one of the set up chairs should be allowed do do so.

We took my 90-something grandma, who isn't a regular chair user, in a rented chair.

Problem solved for a special day.

When they first started restricting access to the best seating at the rehearsal a few years ago, it was for DCR employees and their families.

Before that, the rehearsal was a secret way to see the concert up close.
