Looks to be either a chemistry course or advanced home economics. I'm going to take a somewhat educated guess at this being at the Boston Cooking School of Fanny Farmer.

It's not exactly a chemistry class, although there are chemical formulas on the blackboard - they're for different minerals, and the students are examining mineral samples. No clue where it might be, though! The Boston Normal School (teacher''s college)?

The students are looking at sea shells, and the blackboard includes the formula CaCO2 (Calcium carbonate) which makes up seashells. Halite - NaCl (Sodium Chloride) and other mineral formulas are probably also represented by objects on the table. The teaching method of object lessons was popular in the nineteenth century.

Shows how good my vision is these days. I thought they were sandwiches of some sort. Seriously.

How about Boston's Girls' Latin School, now in a different locale and called Boston Latin Academy?

Check the Girls Latin collection on digital commonwealth. Those benches may match these https://www.digitalcommonwealth.org/search/commonwealth:2227n259r

Thanks for playing, folks!

This photo shows a chemistry class at Girls High School in the 1880s. The back of the photo reads, 'A chemistry class in the 1880s with Miss. Laura B. White instructing"
