Milk crates put out with the trash

Roving UHub photographer Jed Hresko noticed some milk crates out for trash pickup this morning on Elmore Street in Roxbury. Oh my God, who are we kidding: That's a you-know-what-ton of milk crates. Was somebody running a dairy out back?

...just throwing away all those perfectly good space savers - there will be a winter again next year, you know...

Those things are worth their weight in gold. I'm still using the ones I stole in 1982-83 and they're as sturdy as ever.

Yeah!

Back before stores started selling poor-quality imitation milk crates - when you got your milk crates by lurking around the delivery entrance of your local convenience stores and groceries!

I could use a few of those for my vinyl collection. What a waste!

12" records won't fit in regular milk crates. Some store-bought types will hold them though. Wooden cubes from Economy Hardware are perfect.

maybe they could somehow be returned to the dairies whose names are printed on them? (Although if one of them is West Lynn Creamery, they're long gone.)

place them behind any grocery store that sells milk and the dairy people will take them in due time. source: works behind grocery stores.
