Making a splash in Revere

Confession: After spending three hours in the un-air-conditioned concrete box that is the Board of Appeals hearing room in City Hall, the UHub Mobile Action News Unit had to escape - all the way to Revere Beach for some Kelly's by the sea.

Quite a few people had a similar idea, although most were better dressed for the circumstances, like in bathing suits. The more adventurous ran straight into the frigid waters - where none stayed for very long.

After a detour through the Center Plaza CVS to pick up the first sunscreen tube of the season (vital for us pasty-Americans).

A nice breeze off the water meant it was a pretty nice walk along the beach up to Kelly's.

Smart move, the Blvd normally is not so bad even on a nice summer evening BUT on the first real summer evening it is always packed. Plus kids love the huge pedestrian bridge from the subway to the beach.

Until I read the second graf, I assumed that the photo showed Uhub's founder and editor bravely leading the staff's dash into the sea.

We - my wife, our foster dog, me and my trusty knee scooter - left the burbs and went to Sullivans. Figured you might be there. The gentlest of a breeze was welcome in the heat. Didn't see anybody in the water, though.
