Man in Asia seeks father he never met, who moved to Boston long ago
By adamg on Thu, 03/30/2017 - 8:25pm
Over at Boston Chinatown Blog, Adam Cheung reports he was recently contacted by somebody in Asia seeking any leads on the whereabouts of his father, who, the last he knew, was living in Boston and working at a company called Four Seas. The man would be 81 this year.

Four Sea's is still in business
They are currently located at 8 Fid Kennedy Way at the actual seaport part of the Seaport area.
That might be a place to start.
Thanks for Googling that for us Swirl
No obscure anecdote about how your dog walker's brother in law used to buy fish from them?
Hey! Psycho!
Welcome back!
Please, no
If you disagree with what somebody said, go to town and argue away against their point. Keep the personal stuff to yourself.
Four Seas = Chinese restaurant
No, it's more likely the old Four Seas restaurant in Chinatown where Peach Farm currently stands. It's before my time but the Internet indicates that it was popular with the Boston mob and was the site of George Pappas's murder in 1981.
Both are possible
Four Sea's employs a lot of immigrants. Seafood processing is entry level employment and you don't need much English proficiency. The fishport is also walking distance from Chinatown.
That company was formed in
That company was formed in early 2000's. Which eliminates the man's employer.
in all probability it's most
in all probability it's most likely the Four Seas rest. in Chinatown which was existent in the 70's. Which was the timeframe of said person. The processing plant is probably less than 20 years old.
What's the father's name?
I didn't see the father's name anywhere in the link. I realize the son never met his father but if he has his name and date of birth, it might be easier to track.
maybe, maybe not
I have worked with people who migrated from Asia around that time. There were no standardized translated spellings of names, and China in particular lacks diversity of names anyway.
Most people I knew had adopted an "American" first name (Lily, Gladys, Bobby, etc.) that may or may not have been put on their official documents, but even people who used the same characters for their last name would have widely divergent translated spellings. Sometimes the difference between emigrating from Hong Kong and Taiwan or Singapore or Malaysia would change the spelling dramatically.
It would help narrow it down to have some phonetic equivalent, but we have an age (hence birth year). It might be more useful to know where this person emigrated from.
If people don't recognize his picture
what difference is it if you have his name or not? His name might be Jose O'Sullivan for all we know.
Four Seas
I think the Four Seas referred to a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown back in the 80s and 90s not the place at Seaport District.
