Interesting article.

"Just like that, we start with a weight enforcement and now we find marijuana in the truck," Browning explained as he walked toward me holding a Newport cigarette pack containing a small amount of weed. "Even though it’s legal in Mass., it’s not legal in the truck. So, his truck will get towed, he’ll be out of service. That’s kind of how it escalates."

That sure "escalated", all right. Just a little overkill, perhaps?

I thought this was stupid as well. Unless he was smoking in the truck or stoned at the time he was driving it, I don't see what the issue is.

Yeah, who needs laws anyway?

Yeah, all laws are of equal reason and import.

commercial driver should have MJ in their truck. And if your answer is "it's medicinal", then perhaps we should question why a person with a medical condition that requires them to smoke MJ is allowed to drive a large truck.

I thought the regulations for marijuana were now the same as for alcohol -- no open container, and it has to be in a closed or locked compartment.

which probably makes it illegal in a truck and/or illegal for use by a driver subject to DOT regs.

Truck laws and truck driver regulations are different than those for passenger cars, particularly for DOT drivers.

Does this include the little living area in the back?

It does.

The only reason for it to be in the truck is for the driver to smoke it while he has possession of the truck -- which means when he's out driving the truck, plus or minus.

These aren't personal vehicles...

Ever hear of an owner-operator. Still doesn't excuse the idiot having weed in the truck though.
