Orange Line riders were really stuck due to a disabled MBTA work truck

An MBTA work vehicle got jammed on the tracks at Tufts overnight, forcing the T to begin Orange Line service with shuttle buses between Back Bay and Jackson Square. They cleared it, finally, and things are back to normal, more or less.

If the work vehicle was stuck at Tufts, then how were they able to run trains north of Back Bay?

They didn't. The alert had riders take the green line between Copley and Haymarket.

It was a contractor's truck that derailed at Tufts, and they were telling passengers to take the Green Line between Haymarket and Copley. They had to run buses from Back Bay to Jackson because the truck was eventually removed from the right of way at the truck access point at Gainsborough St. (between Mass Ave and Ruggles, within the power section that includes the Ruggles cross-overs)
