Disturbing. Wishing a speedy recovery to the pedestrian.

If the headline read 'Cyclist suffers life-threatening injuries' there would be dozens of posts on this page about how the driver should be executed and automobiles all sold for scrap. No one stands up for pedestrians.

As a pedestrian, of course these posts are sad and horrifying. But pedestrians already have a protected area to use- sidewalks. And a lot of the bike posts are about how bikes do NOT have that luxury.

There are also a ton of comments on speed limit posts talking about how the police need to crack down on speeders, and how dangerous these cars are to pedestrians. I don't think there's a lack of love for them here.

Are recreational equipment and do not belong on roads used by cars. Keep them on trails and bike paths, where they belong.

Are the cheapest and fastest way to commute. I can't afford a car.

Plus they have way less impact on those around them. Bikes don't emit pollution or bulldoze neighborhoods for highways. Not to mention they reduce parking demand.

Bikes are the best form of transport for those who are able and traveling in dense neighborhoods. They are not just toys. They belong on the road.

Seriously. Cars kill people - with impacts, or pollution or paved sprawl.

Bikes reduce mortality, don't kill people, don't pollute, and don't take up so much space.

Maybe drivers should start paying for the full cost of their enormous and wasteful driving habits? Yes, that motorized bubble makes your ass look big.

OK, I'll bite, the parking-spot-cost thread has already zoomed past 100 comments, and Adam's gotta generate that sweet, sweet rage-reading ad money.

I think that if you hurt or kill a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk, absent some sort of mitigating circumstance like "pedestrian was crossing against the red, wearing all black, after dark, and driver has video of him leaping out from behind a mail truck," the minimum sentence should be a lifetime revocation of your driver's license. I also think we should adopt the Russian standard, where if you're involved in a car/human collision, burden of proof is on the driver to show he WASN'T at fault.

All right, guys, go to town.

Have you seen those videos of people jumping in front of cars for a payoff? Can certainly see that happening if that was the law.

As for this case, whenever someone is hurt, we as people grieve for them. 99.9% of people don't deserve for anything like this to happen to them. I think the beef with cyclists start because in their eyes a lot of times it's always the drivers fault and bike riders are infallible and make no mistakes. We all wish this person a speedy and full recovery.

Please run for office on this platform. I don't even care which one. I'd vote for you as Register of Deeds if this was all you campaigned on.

Organize. Nobody is stopping you.

That's why cyclist outrage gets traction.
