Police, volunteers hunt vandals who attacked sports facility, planters in Dorchester

Boston Police are asking for help to find the people who ransacked and vandalized the Sportsmen’s Tennis and Enrichment Center, 950 Blue Hill Ave., sometime late Sunday or early Monday:

The officers observed profanity spray painted on the rear door, the storage shed was broken into and ransacked, and the outdoor seating areas and garden had been destroyed.

Anybody with information can contact detectives at 617-343-4712 or the anonymous tip line by calling 800-494-TIPS or texting TIP to CRIME (27463).

Separately, Greater Ashmont Main Street reports somebody went along Dot Ave. in Peabody Square damaging planters:

Seven of the terra cotta style planters along the Dot Ave sidewalk were overturned, stolen, or had their plants thrown into the street sometime between Saturday morning and Sunday midday. Then, around 1:30 am Monday, one of the larger concrete planters in Peabody Square was hit by a vehicle who left the scene, collapsing one of its side walls. The combined damage estimate is about $800.
